The Irving Inclement Weather Shelter will be open on any day when the forecasted temperature low is 32 degrees or below. In cases of other extreme forecasted weather (i.e. snow, ice, etc.) the shelter may be open at the discretion of shelter staff. Signs will be posted in Irving community when the shelter is open. You can also sign up for text alerts by texting the word “homeless” to 55498.

The shelter is located at 1760 E. Airport Fwy. Irving, TX 75062. It's located behind Christ Church in a large warehouse on the far backend of the property. 

On days the shelter is open and each day the shelter is open thereafter, beginning at 5:00PM, vans will pick up from the following designated locations.

  • Downtown Irving—In the Heritage Crossing Train Station across from the McDonald's at 201 Rock Island Rd.

  • Good Shepherd Lutheran Church- 2620 W. Grauwyler Rd, Irving, TX 75061

  • North Irving-- In the Goodwill parking lot at 2935 N Beltline Rd. (Beltline and Rochelle). Under the Goodwill sign.

  • Many Helping Hands Day Center- Located at Bear Creek Church, 2700 Finley Rd, Irving, TX 75062

Inclement Weather Plan and Shelter Daily Details

  • Evening

    The shelter will open at 5pm on the initial day of opening for each Inclement Weather event.

    Between 5:00-5:30pm Vans and buses will arrive at the pre-defined designated locations in Irving to begin transporting our homeless friends to the shelter.

    Once our guests arrive at the shelter they will go through the brief registration and intake process and will be given a wrist band with their sleep area/cot number assignment.

    6:30pm Dinner will be served. Announcements regarding the shelter schedule and services may be made at this time. Clean-up follows.

    Signups for all shelter services (Showers, Laundry, Case Management, etc.) will be available at the Hospitality table.

    6:30-9:30pm Showers and Laundry services will be available on a first come, first served basis.

    8pm Shelter in place begins. No entry or re-entry into the shelter after this time is allowed.

    10pm Shelter bedtime/quite time in effect. All TV’s will be turned off and only emergency lighting is available from 10pm until 7am.

    Pet kennels are available on a limited bases in a secure and heated patio area. All pets must be cared for and looked after by their owners.

    Covid-19 protocols will be followed as necessary. Including, but not limited to, performing Covid-19 testing in the event of present symptoms and isolation or transportation to the hospital in the event of positive results.

  • Daytime

    7am Shelter lights are all on and shelter bedtime/quite time is no longer in effect.

    8am Breakfast will be served. Announcements regarding shelter schedule and services may be made at this time. Clean-up follows.

    8:30am Case Management appointments begin on a case-by-case basis.

    9:00-9:30am Shelter cleanup and checkout begins. Vans and buses will begin transporting everyone back to the pre-defined designated locations.

    **Based on the forecast if the shelter continues to be open for consecutive days the follow schedule will apply:

    9am-10pm TV’s are allowed to be turned in the main shelter gathering place and in the Women’s lounge area.

    12noon lunch will be served. Clean-up follows.
